Message: Help others

I done some research on different ways in in which you could or can help someone or thing some of the things i  came up with was:Volunteering, Donating, Helping animal shelters, Honor the heros ect..I then went on to looking at existing images and posters.
Above are just a few posters i found. From these poster i can get an idea of they style i could use or the colours i could use, there is a lot of use of the colour red. and also i can see where they postion the text.

Target Audience: Inner city 15-20year olds

Inner city 15-20 year olds, I automatically Thourght of the sterotypicall Inner City Gangs and gang culture, hoodies, Graffiti, shanks and asbo’s as this is normally the case when it comes to inner city kids.In the UnitedKingdom, Irland, the United States and Canada all interprite the word Inner City as poorer parts of the city an area that is a ghetto or slum, where more crime is commited, the people that live their are less educated and are in poverity.
A map of London the red parts are classed as the inner city, these are the boroughs where I would display my work, places like council estates as this is the most common place to find 16-20 year olds hanging around.

In 12 years the crime has fallen whilst 15 year olds have been in school, but once they have left school the crime rate has risen. This shows that when they have no guidence from school they start to comite more crimes.

Research: cultural organisation

Cultural organisations are a variety of different things, from the Tate, Youth clubs, museums and charities to The Princes trust. They are non-for-profit corporations which means they do not distribute any profit to owners or shareholders, but use profits to help pursue their goals. They are engaging and interact with their audience. Their aims are to help people; educate and donate etc. When looking through website’s, I found that they where all interactive, a lot of them also had moving graphics which made the website visually interesting. http://antenna.sciencemuseum.org.uk/
I gathered images from cultural organisation and put them all together and pixelated them so i could see what colours are being used. from the image above you can see that there are reds, blues, blacks and whites being used.
Their logos are manily square or round shaped. and also consist of the same colours.

PPD; Scavenger hunt

In this PPD session we had to walk around farringdon look for graphic design agencies. The aim was to find information out about them, talk to a graphic designer that worked their, collect business cards and also find out how their career started once they had graduated, and also how to find work experience and what is the best way to stand out and get noticed. I found this day out very useful as it gave me an insight in what it would be like working in a graphic design studio and how i could find a career in the industry.

PPD; Researching Industry.

In this session we had to research design companies and find information about them. the first task was to list as many design company's that we could think of, this showed us how many design companies we knew, which wasn't alot at first. In the second task we was given a web address of an design companies that we had to look at and find  other design companies that were on the design companies web site. The website we was given was www.dandad.org or D&AD. From this website we found 3 more design companies; Pentagram, Y&R (young and rubican) and big active. From this we had to do more research in to these 3 companies, see what work they produce, who their clients are and the style they work in. The idea of this task was to get us to start researching in to company's more to help us find a work placement. The final task was to list ways of getting a work placement in these companies.

Our list of way to get a work placement.

Over all I have really enjoyed this workshop and have found that it will be useful for future reference.

The Brief

We have received our first brief, we had to roll a dice 3 time to choose our client, message and our target audience. My groups brief is: You are asked to produce and present a piece of graphic design and supporting research that meets the requirements of a client, communicates a particular message and meets the needs of a target audience. You should use a dice to determine which client, message and target audience combination you work with. Our client is a cultural organisation, the message is help others and our target audience is inner city 15-20 year olds.
